The use of artificial intelligence technologies in higher education is gaining more importance every day, especially in fields such as health sciences where interdisciplinary knowledge production is intense. Artificial intelligence-supported tools are among the key elements that transform educational models in the processes of course design, planning learning outcomes and producing academic content. In this direction, the CourseGPT Workshop held at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Health Sciences was conducted as a practical training focused on interactive course design supported by artificial intelligence. The workshop held in KSC03 on Wednesday, 19th November was titled "Interactive Course Design with Your AI Assistant". The event, which took place between 14:00 and 15:00, was planned to be open only to the participation of the faculty members of the relevant department. The training provided a practical framework for academics to integrate artificial intelligence-supported tools into their course processes.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Sezin Eşfer Öndünç, Dr. Zeynep Cömert, and Dr. Meltem Özmutlu. During the training, participants worked on practical examples of how artificial intelligence assistants can be used in lesson planning, content structuring, and supporting the learning process. It was emphasized that the intense content structure encountered in the field of health sciences could be managed more sustainably with artificial intelligence-supported systems.
Within the CourseGPT approach, the creation of scenarios suitable for course objectives, the development of guidelines that support the learning process, and how to design content aimed at increasing student interaction were addressed. It was illustrated with examples that artificial intelligence-supported assistants streamline academics' course preparation processes and play a role in enriching the learning experience.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of supporting education in the field of health sciences with a measurable, structured, and feedback-oriented system. Artificial intelligence-supported course design was evaluated as a model that supports students' more active participation in the learning process. This approach contributed to the presentation of academic content in an up-to-date, consistent, and accessible manner.
The CourseGPT Workshop, conducted in line with Bahçeşehir University's vision of practical education, contributed to the proliferation of artificial intelligence-based teaching approaches in the field of health sciences. This training, implemented in cooperation with BAU Center for Learning and Teaching and AI Competency Unit, stood out as a concrete indication of the university's commitment to technology-supported learning models.
